Patanjali Research Foundation dedicated to public welfare

Dr. Anurag Varshney
Vice President- Patanjali Research Institute

Patanjali Research Foundation is the first institute of its kind in the world, where Ayurvedic medicines and equivalent allopathic medicines are researched together and their effectiveness is determined.

The journey to fight and get healthy starts from the mind, brain and body and for this it is very important to have coordination and harmony among these three.

Patanjali's journey of Yoga-Ayurveda

To facilitate this journey, Patanjali has been engaged in public service through Yoga and Ayurveda for many years. In this series, Patanjali Research Foundation is also trying to improve the health and quality of life of people through research and innovation on medicinal plants. To fulfill this objective, the research institute goes through many dimensions in which firstly the unstructured knowledge of medicinal plants of ancient sages of India is referred to separately and evidence is obtained through multi-dimensional research through new advanced technologies. Based Ayurvedic medicines are manufactured. The aim of the institute is to ensure that these evidence-based Ayurvedic medicines reach the masses without any doubt or regulatory requirements, so that the diseases of all people can be easily treated.

Patanjali's Ayurvedic medicines are evidence based

The entire research of Patanjali Research Foundation works according to these aims and objectives and to accomplish this, the institute is moving forward by adopting a pyramid-like strategy. In this, the lowest level is initiation i.e. laying a foundation or starting the work, the second level is transition phase i.e. bringing this process on the ground and implementing it smoothly and the third level is actualization which the institute has now reached. The main reason for this is the presence of hardworking Karmayogis of the institute, their militant ideology and having better guides in the form of Param Pujya Swami Ji and Param Shraddha Acharya Ji. Due to these major factors, Patanjali Research Institute is able to bring evidence based medicines to the world which are not inferior to any other medical system, but on many occasions are more effective than them.

World's best institute in Ayurveda research Patanjali Research Foundation

Patanjali Research Foundation is the first institute of its kind in the world, where Ayurvedic medicines and equivalent • Allopathic medicines are researched together and their effectiveness is determined. Our laboratories are modern and comply with quality guidelines that are at par or better than large laboratories of other pharma companies. There are no such systems in Ayurvedic and herbal research anywhere in the world. Patanjali the Drug Discovery and Development Department of the Research Foundation has an in-vitro laboratory for research on cells, which is operated by the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC) under the guidelines of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The in-vivo laboratory for research on organisms is governed by the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC), which has ethical responsibility for the institution. There are also microbiology laboratories for bacteria and fungi, laboratories for herbal and analytical chemistry and a clinical research division for clinical trials, whose trials are registered with Clinical Trials of India (CTRI), a government organization. The institute strictly follows all the compliance and quality guidelines of the Government of India and all over the world. Even during pharmaceutical manufacturing, the World Health Organization's Good Manufacturing Practices and FDA guidelines are followed. All medicines and products of Patanjali are manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
More than 80 research papers of Patanjali Research Foundation published in international research journals.

More than 80 research papers have been published in various international research journals on various diseases like cancer, inflammation, infectious diseases, diabetes, obesity, immunity, skin disorders, liver and kidney problems.

For research on synthetic medicines, which is the rule of pharmacology principle, other institutes first make a molecule and research it on rats and other animals, then it is tested on humans, whereas in Patanjali Research Foundation, our ancient Ayurvedic knowledge is used. Because of this and because of the knowledge we have about medicinal plants, we do reverse pharmacology i.e. the study of medicines in an excellent form, in which we first do research on living organisms to find out how effective a medicine is. , then it is seen that what is the element in that medicine which is the factor in the effectiveness of this medicine?

For example Triphala is good for the digestive system. This statement is mentioned in our ancient Ayurvedic texts and we also use it in our daily routine. Research on rats is done to find out how Triphala is good for the digestive system. After that, it is found out what element is present in Triphala which is good for the digestive system.
During toxicological studies conducted to find out the side effects of drugs, a fixed amount of drug is given to living organisms for 14 to 28 days and sometimes even up to 90 days for some special purpose and research, which is less than the dose given to humans. It is 10 to 28 times more than the proper amount. So far, detailed toxicological studies of 32 evidence-based medicines have been conducted by the institute, in which no side effects have been observed so far.
Even during manufacturing, the quality of these medicines is checked in which every batch of medicines is checked and it is seen whether the same ingredient is present in these medicines or not. At the same time, in Patanjali Research Institute, the batches of these medicines made at different times are tested and it is seen whether the same components are present in them or not, so that the quality and effectiveness of these medicines is maintained.
Patanjali Research Institute, in a way, works according to the Golden Triangle Approach, where evidence-based medicines are manufactured by adjusting new technologies with the knowledge of Ayurveda. The elements found in all these medicines are obtained from natural resources in which the possibility of any kind of adulteration is negligible. These natural evidence based Ayurvedic medicines provide much better and satisfactory results with no side effects as compared to their counterpart allopathic medicines. Patanjali Research Institute is selflessly engaged in the service of the people to achieve its aim and goal and in the same way, by doing new research in the field of Ayurveda, it will provide the boon of health to the patients.
