Parkinson's disease is an incurable and fatal disease of the brain or nervous system. In this disease, the nerve cells of our brain start dying due to various reasons. In more than 50% of people, this disease occurs due to unknown reasons, while in the other 50% it is caused by various types of toxins, side effects of medicines, brain infection or head injury. World famous boxer Mohammad Ali also suffered from Parkinson's disease at an early age due to a head injury. The disease was named after an article 'An Essay on the Shaking Palsy' written in 1817 by British physician James Parkinson. This disease is found in about 1% of people over the age of 65 worldwide. It is the second most common neurological disease after Alzheimer's. Once this disease starts, it keeps increasing.

The brain controls all the organs of our body. There are two types of organ movements – voluntary and involuntary. The upper part of brain the 'pyramidal' located here controls voluntary organ movements, while the 'basal ganglia' controls involuntary organ movements. The basal ganglia contain a black tissue called substantia nigra. When neurons or brain cells start dying in this area, Parkinson's disease begins. Neurons use neurotransmitters to send signals to each other. One such neurotransmitter is dopamine, whose deficiency affects the connectivity of neurons. Due to this, neurons are not able to send signals properly to other body cells. As a result, physical movements are affected. The amount of dopamine in the brain and the death of cells of the substantia nigra are the main factors of this disease.
When the level of this dopamine decreases by 70-80% in the brain, some structural changes are also seen in the nerve cells, Which are called 'Lew bodies', inside which a protein called 'synuclein' is deposited. It acts as a biomarker for this neuro-degenerative disease, meaning if it starts accumulating in one place, it can lead to the onset of Parkinson's disease. Death of nerve cells causes Parkinson's disease as well as various types of mental illnesses like stress, anxiety, depression etc.
Causes to illness
This disease can occur due to two reasons - first if it is genetic which means if mutation occurs in the synuclein protein and second due to stress, anxiety, depression.
In the initial symptoms of this disease, the functioning of organs slows down and trembling of hands and legs starts. Gradually, as the disease progresses, the upper part of the body starts bending and the knees also bend. Movement slows down while eating, talking and doing other daily routine tasks and ultimately the patient becomes unable to do any kind of work. There are many medicines for this disease in modern medicine but there is no permanent cure for it. Besides, these medicines also have side effects.
To get rid of this problem, Neurogrit Gold has been developed by Patanjali Research Institute through Patanjali Yogpeeth after various modern researches. This medicine is made from important herbs like Ekangveer Ras, Moti Pishti, Rajat Bhasma, Vasant Kusumakar Ras, Rasraj Ras, Jyotishmati, Giloy etc., which do not have any side effects.
To confirm the authenticity of this Ayurvedic medicine, C. elegans was first selected. The length of these C. elegans is 1 mm. This means that they are very small creatures and their life cycle is only 21 days. These organisms have 302 neurons that can be counted, including 8 neurons that secrete dopamine. For all these reasons it is an excellent organism for research activities.
After that, some changes were made in these neurons, that is, they were given mutations, in this process some colored proteins were placed in front of these neurons, so that it could be known how these neurons or genes are visible. After giving Neurogrit to these organisms, an increase in their life cycle was observed.
Conclusion
Before the research, an attempt was made to know what kind of natural activities or behavior C. elegans has. After that some changes were made in their neurons i.e. they were given mutations. In this process, some colored proteins were placed in front of these neurons, so that it could be known how these neurons or genes were visible. Thereafter, their reactions were assessed and it was found that there was a reduction in their behavior such as speed of head movement, rotation of walking speed etc. After this, to measure the effectiveness of Ayurvedic medicine Neurogrit Gold, this medicine was given to these organisms, as a result, healthy changes were seen in these organisms. After giving Neurogrit to these organisms, an increase of 2 days was observed in their life cycle, which was earlier 21 days, now it became 23 days. Using 6-OHDA, a neurotoxic drug, it was found that it began to destroy about 50% of the neurons in the brain. With the use of Neurogrit, it was found that the number of neurons can be restored through this medicine. One by petriplate further research was done in which attractants of these creatures were placed on one side and repellents on the other side. It was often observed that good organisms, as per their natural behavior, went towards attractants, whereas when neurotoxicity started in these organisms, they started getting attracted towards repellents. Subsequently, when these organisms were given Neurogrit Gold, these organisms again started moving towards the attractants, repeating their natural behavior, which was a successful response.
With the use of Neurogrit, it was found that the number of neurons can be restored through this medicine. Another research was done through petri plates in which attractants of these organisms were placed on one side and repellents on the other side...... When Neurogrit Gold was given to these organisms, these organisms again started repeating their natural behavior and moving towards the attractants, which was a successful response. |
In another research, alpha-synuclein, which is the main factor in Parkinson's disease, was implanted in these organisms with green dye, so that this disease could be detected, after which these organisms were used for comparative study with the allopathic drug L-Dopa. Neurogrit and Al-dopa were administered to the organisms, resulting in Neurogrit being more effective than Al-dopa and showing better effects on these organisms. For another research, C. elegans were given their food i.e. bacteria with red stain, which revealed that the appetite of these organisms was lost. These were then mixed with green stain. For comparative study, allopathic medicine L-Dopa and Ayurvedic medicine Neurogrit were given on these organisms, as a result Neurogrit gave better results than L-Dopa, which was an effective research. After that, in another research, sodium arsenic was given to increase the oxidative stress in the neurons, as a result of which the neurons started dying, then when Ayurvedic medicine Neurogrit was given, C. elegans started recovering again. Subsequently, after testing Neurogrit in terms of gene expression, it was concluded that this drug also controls 3 major genes PINK 1, PDR-1 and CAT-1.
Neurogrit Gold is an evidence based Ayurvedic medicine based on the ancient principles of Ayurveda which has the potential to cure brain related diseases like Parkinson's.
